Sonora - Sound in Improvisation How can we build universes without using images? WORKSHOP - Theatre/Music Language: Portuguese and English Levels: AG + IN + AV/PF Day/Time: 25/07 (Friday) from 14:00 to 17:00 Location: Alcântara Library About Gabriel Caropreso: Born in São Paulo, he started in improvisation in 2007, coming from clowning, with classes in the show Jogando no Quintal. He studied independently based on Keith Johnstone's books, keeping rehearsals and practice as the centrepiece of his development. In 2018, he joined the collective Quase Todos, directing the show Sigo de Volta, with scenes based on photographs taken by the public. He also worked on the creation of the shows Script (an improvised film) and Haroldo (Harold format, based on research at UCB - NY). During this period, she began teaching improvisation, offering workshops and courses focusing on imagery, sound and dramaturgy. He teaches improvisation and clowning in theatre schools, prioritising fundamentals, longforms and comic logic. He was an improvisation supervisor for the show Menino e Fukuyama and has been a teacher and guest artist at the Odisseia da Impro, The Impro, Festival Anônimo and Improvisorama festivals. He is currently a member of the groups Núcleo Atômico (directed by Rhena de Faria) and Coletivo Quem Sobrou, with the shows Surpresa Até pra Gente, Cachê Teste and Trago Verdades.
This workshop explores sound as a tool for setting, dramaturgy and conducting an improvised scene, inviting improvisers to create using only sound resources.
Traditional improvisational theatre techniques are adapted for the sound medium, inviting participants to play the challenging game of improvisation for audio media.
