Impro and Tarot

IMPRO AND TAROT

We'll study the adventure cycles and archetypal characters of the tarot cards to explore the combinations and possibilities of adventure in an Impro show. Tarot cards have a lot of information for creating characters and their structure also plays with the mystical and unexpected narrative.

Levels: AG + IN + AV/PF
AG - ARTISTS IN GENERAL: Professional artists or those in training with no specific Impro experience.
IN - IMPRO BEGINNER: People who already have some experience with Impro courses and/or performances.
AV/PF - ADVANCED/PROFESSIONAL IN IMPRO: People with a few years' experience and/or a career in Impro.

About Luana Proença:

Luana Proença is a Brazilian artist with a degree in Theatre, a specialisation in Cultural Management, a Master's degree in Arts and a PhD in Theatre. She ran her own School of Theatre and Production in Brazil from 2008 to 2016, and was a university lecturer in directing and acting from 2014 to 2017. She is a member of the group Saída Sul, with which she has created 3 improvisation solos that have been presented internationally. In 2018 she started the project ‘Visando Impro’ with which she writes a blog about Impro in Portuguese, and also made the Impro documentary ‘Era preciso ouvir outras vozes’. She completed the Improv programme at The Second City Training Center Hollywood and Master Classes from 2016 to 2018. She is also a translator for Status magazine into Portuguese and the presenter of its podcast. Part of her training is in Dance, Physical Theatre, Dramaturgy and Animation Theatre. She teaches and performs internationally with her theatre and improvisation workshops and shows. He has published 3 books (2 co-authored). He has performed and given workshops in Brazil, the USA, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Greece, Northern Ireland, Norway, Bulgaria, Holland, Sweden, Australia and, in 2025, Vietnam.
